Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept Laptimer Michael Schumacher
Audemars Piguet manufacturer has recently introduced Royal Oak LapTimer concept model in honour of Michael Schumacher. It is a technically very complex model with a special function.
Namely, five years ago, Schumacher asked the engineers at AP the following question: “Can you make a mechanical watch for the use in car racing with a possibility of measuring the times of a greater number of laps?” This apparently simple question initiated the development which lasted almost five years.
Royal Oak Laptimer concept within one chronograph function possesses two independent memory systems. Two central hands are controlled independently via three pushpieces. Two of them are at the conventional positions, on the right side of a case, and the third is located at the 9 o’clock position. When you press that third button you will stop both times measured, with the position of the last time recorded, and the first measured time starts over, recording a new lap. In addition to that, the watch may be used as a standard chronograph with flyback and in that case it measures the same time using the two hands together.
Royal Oak Concept Laptimer Michael Schumacher will be produced in a limited edition of 221 copies, which is the exact number of the wins achieved by Michael Schumacher in his Formula 1 career.
